Hola, my name is Y.M.G.C. I am 15 years old. I was rescued in November by the National Police anti-trafficking unit and brought to Casa Azul. I was rescued from a neighboring city about 3 hours away from where BRP is located. It was a traumatizing experience that I still struggle to talk about. The past few years I was living with my mother because my father went to Antigua to work. My father thought everything was ok and my life was good, but he did not know what was really happening. My mother has a drug problem and she was selling me to men so that she had the money to buy drugs. She also had two other girls who lived in the house with us and she would force them to traffic drugs into the local prison in their underwear. My mother is now in jail and is facing up to 15 years. I am currently living in protected custody in the northern region of the country because my mother escaped jail. BRP has placed me into a government shelter in order to protect me from being kidnapped by my mother. My focus right now is to work on my mental health and my education. I want to be a doctor when I grow up and I want to live with my father when my mother has been secured behind bars. My favorite animal is a panda and I love to joke watch funny movies. My dream is to have a career and to help my mother to choose a different life.
